The check choke is similar to a martingale collar in that it is a limited choke BUT, when you
want to give the dog or pup a correction, the chain part makes an aversive noise.

Just great.

I mean that.

Check chokes are good for young puppies because they are less harsh, and besides that,
you shouldn’t put a regular choke chain on a puppy that’s less than 4 months old. Lastly,
THEY ARE CHEAP! By cheap I mean inexpensive. Don’t pay more than $5 for one. If you get
one of these, make sure you take it off of your dog when you are no able to supervise, and
never allow the dog to wear it in his crate. They can catch onto something and panic, ending
up hurting themselves. This holds true with any collar.
